Digital Forensics Conference to Gather Leading Global and Regional Experts in Belgrade

Belgrade will host one of Europe’s most prominent events in digital forensics and cybersecurity – the Digital Forensics Conference – on November 12-13, 2024, at the Sava Center. The conference will bring together senior representatives from international and regional public institutions, industry experts, and financial institutions to engage in comprehensive dialogue on the prevention and combatting of cybercrime, as well as sharing best practices in digital forensics and cybersecurity.

Esteemed speakers, including experts from renowned global tech companies and institutions, will share insights on the evolution of cyber threats, the dual role of advanced technologies in both enabling and combatting cybercrime, and best practices in preventing cybercrime and digital fraud. Among this year’s featured speakers is Christopher Wong, a special agent from the U.S. FBI, who led a historic $3.6 billion cryptocurrency seizure – the largest ever by the U.S. government. The event is organized by the Archibald Digital Forensics Initiative.

“The goal of this conference is to equip companies and organizations in the public and private sectors across the region with the tools and knowledge necessary to effectively address cyber threats,” said Stanoje Rnić, President of the Archibald Digital Forensics Initiative. “According to the 2024 Internet Organized Crime Threat Assessment (IOCTA) published by Europol this year, ransomware groups are reorganizing and changing identities, significantly complicating tracking and investigations. Cybercriminals are increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their attacks, and deepfake technologies to create fake content, including CSAM, adding further complexity to investigations. Additionally, the misuse of large language models (LLMs) is rising, especially in the context of phishing attacks and cryptocurrency investment fraud, presenting a new dimension of threats. The Archibald Digital Forensics Initiative aims to strengthen capacities and expertise in cyber investigations and security to effectively counter increasingly sophisticated cybercriminal strategies,” Rnić emphasized.

Building on the success of three editions of the Blockchain Forensics Forum, which attracted over 300 participants from more than 15 countries and conducted workshops led by experts from the FBI and HSI, this year’s event has evolved into the Digital Forensics Conference. The program will cover a broader range of topics, including ransomware investigation, blockchain forensics, AI and machine learning misuse prevention, fraud tracking, and anti-money laundering efforts.

The conference will gather key public sector stakeholders, including representatives from critical infrastructure institutions – the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, judiciary, and prosecutorial offices from Serbia and other European countries. Leading global and regional cybersecurity companies, banks, and financial institutions will also be present, further reinforcing the conference’s reputation as an essential event for professionals in this field.

Registration for the conference is open at www.digitalforensicsconf.com, with early bird pricing available until October 28. Don’t miss the chance to join Europe’s top experts in digital forensics and cyber security at this key event.
