Katharina Ohnesorge works in a department that specialises in combating child abuse and child pornography on the internet. Her work involves cases arising from reports received by NCMEC, as well as those identified using tools that detect illicit content on P2P platforms. The department also conducts investigations to identify child pornography platforms on the dark web and ensures they are taken down. In this context, extensive cryptocurrency investigations are regularly required. Katharina Ohnesorge has already shared her expertise at national and international conferences, such as events in the Netherlands and Malta. As the Bavarian Central Office for the Prosecution of Cybercrime has jurisdiction over the whole area of Bavaria, she also delivers lectures to police officers on handling cases relating to child sexual abuse material.
